John Winthrop letter to Gov. Kieft, 1643.

Letter written by Massachusetts Governor John Winthrop to Governor Willem Kieft of the New Netherlands regarding the defense group formed by the Connecticut, New Haven, and Plymouth, Massachusetts colonies. The group was formed following the Pequot War, when it was realized that none of the colonies could adequately defend alone against an Indian attack. Kieft had previously written and expressed some grievances.
